Our History

Methodism has a solid foundation in Gibson County, dating back to 1815. Hillside Church has been built on this foundation of countless faithful Christians serving this community.

In 1997, all three United Methodist Churches in Princeton merged into one congregation as Hillside United Methodist Church. Merging, of course, meant change. Although there were challenges, we refused to allow our respective churches to die. By God's grace, we wanted to fulfill God's dreams for the church in Princeton and beyond.

When we merged, we sold all three former church buildings and built a new facility, which opened in December 2003. In a typical week, we have more than 1,000 people through our doors for different meetings and events. Our current facility serves as a community center in Princeton for a preschool, Boy Scouts, 4-H shows, AA meetings, birthday parties, and many other activities.

We hope our rich history will continue to be built upon with the help and faith of someone like you.
